The Night Market - Holiday Edition is Coming to U/D

November 20, 2023

The seasons are changing and University District is pleased to present a festive twist on a community favourite event this year, the U/D Night Market – Holiday Edition! This event will take place on Thursday, November 30th and Thursday, December 7th at Central Commons Park (nestled between Borough Bar + Grill and The Banquet) between 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on both dates). At this free event, you can expect seasonal delights, local craftsmanship and an array of entertainment under the twinkling lights of our vibrant community.

The U/D Night Market – Holiday Edition is put on in partnership with MarketSpot, which helps connect local vendors and artists to the community. The Night Market – Holiday Edition has been thoughtfully designed to make a fun outing for visitors and residents of all ages: from kid-friendly activities to shopping the market stalls, enjoying the skating rink and more.

Connecting with the Community

The U/D Night Market – Holiday Edition celebrates the community, creating a place where neighbours can come together to share the joy of the holiday season. As the sun sets, the Night Market will come alive with our seasonal light displays, casting a brilliant glow throughout Central Commons Park.

University District offers complementary activities all winter long, including an ice rink, light displays and warm fire features.

In addition to the market, make sure to take advantage of the additional activities in the community. Whether you’re a seasoned skater or stepping onto the ice for the first time, our ice skating rink is an excellent attraction for all ages to experience. Afterwards, you and your loved ones can warm up by one of our fire features with a hot drink. Shopping, skating and a cozy fire creates a perfect night to unwind and soak in the festive atmosphere this holiday season.

Don’t have any skates? Worry not! The University of Calgary Outdoor Centre will be onsite, offering skate rentals at the event. They are only able to accept cash payments at the event. Scotiabank is located right in U/D if you happen to need access to banking facilities.

Everything You Can Expect at the Night Market

The U/D Night Market – Holiday Edition is the ideal opportunity to support local businesses.
