Five Unique Features of the Alt Hotel Calgary University District

November 20, 2023

The Alt Hotel Calgary University District recently celebrated its grand opening and residents of University District and the surrounding area are thrilled to have a spectacular hotel so close to home. From dog-friendly, accessible rooms to fantastic mountain views, here’s everything you can expect from a stay at The Alt:

Pet Friendly, Accessible Rooms and Flexible Check-Out Policies

One of the most beloved aspects of the Alt Hotel Calgary University District is that it offers pet friendly and wheelchair accessible guest rooms. Instead of finding a pet sitter for your next vacation or stay-cation in Calgary, you are welcome to bring your furry friends along!

In addition to pet-friendly rooms, the hotel also offers dedicated wheelchair accessible rooms, fitted with bathroom handrails, lit ramps to and from the elevator, wide elevator doors and more, making for an inclusive and inviting experience for all guests when staying there. The Alt also accommodates special accessibility requests to ensure every guest feels comfortable during their stay.

When staying at The Alt, guests can take advantage of the hotel’s flexible check-out policy. Want to stay a little later? Guests can connect with the front desk to request a late check-out that works best with their travel plans.

Unique Amenities for Guests at The Alt

The Alt’s spacious, state-of-the-art rooms are designed to provide relaxation, stunning views and modern amenities, including an HD television, high-end sheets, pillows and bedding, Bella Pella bath products and a Nespresso coffee machine to start your day off right.

The hotel is also equipped with a 24-hour gym, underground parking, unique working spaces and a dedicated restaurant and cafe that will be opening in 2024.

Community Connection to the Alberta Children’s Hospital

Did you know that the Alt Hotel University District has a strong connection to the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation? The Alt University District is a passionate supporter and recently donated 25 room stays with a value of more than $6,000 to the hospital which will be gifted to families with children receiving care from the Alberta Children’s Hospital among other needs.

Pictured above is “Emma’s Drawing,” gifted by a Calgary family whose daughter, Emma, recently received care at the Alberta Children’s Hospital. The drawing was donated to the Alberta Children’s Hospital to symbolize the Alt Hotel’s ongoing support.

‘Mad Men’ Inspired Meeting Rooms

For those traveling for business or simply looking for a great space to host meetings, the Alt Hotel is the perfect place. There are six uniquely styled meeting rooms, one boardroom and one creative lounge available for rent at the hotel, providing a combined 4,000 square feet of available space suitable for events up to 130 people.

The Alt can also host conferences, weddings and other events, and offers full banquet service.

Location! Location! Location!

The best part about staying at The Alt Hotel Calgary University District are the 30+ diverse amenities within walking distance of the hotel with more to come.

Hungry? There’s a number options for dining in the community, including Borough Bar + Grill, The Canadian Brewhouse, barBURRITO, OEB Breakfast Co., Feshii and Five Guys to name a few. For those looking to get some exercise outside of the hotel, University District is home to YYC Cycle and Orangetheory Fitness. There are also various other services available in the University District, including Save-On-Foods, FoxyBox, Pet Planet, Market Wines and Curious Hair Salon

For those looking for fun activities in the community, University District is home to Alberta’s only exclusively 18+ Cineplex VIP Cinemas.
